Series: Tame the Tresses!
Tame the Tresses! A group of women with hair too long and ideas too big, the Tresses live in a world not made for them. Always trying to be controlled, directed, and tamed. They are too much or too little. A woman’s hair should be long, but not too long. Their hair should be curly but not too crazy. A feminine outlook into the standards of beauty and the symbolism of hair as it has existed in our culture and psyche. There has always been a gendered stereotype that women should have long hair. The Tresses have so much hair that it pushes past the gendered expectation of “feminine hair” and into having too much hair, beyond what is appropriate. There are unspoken lines of where beauty should exist. This series is a rebellion of expected femininity while acknowledging cultural stereotypes of beauty, grace, and cleanliness.
